Outreach Services provides a positive, inclusive space focused on equality, equity and diversity within the campus community and beyond.

We offer support, information, referrals, events, and training with a focus on four key areas, or “centres”: Women’s Centre, Pride + LGBTQ Centre, Sexual Health Resource Centre, and the Campus Food Centre.

Outreach Services offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities, including helping out with the Food Centre, events and booths, general office help and peer support. If you’re interested in volunteering, submit our online form.

Volunteers must attend a mandatory training session. All volunteers must commit to respecting confidentiality and ensure that all Outreach Services spaces remain positive, inclusive spaces.

The Campus Food Centre is a food bank available to all Durham College and UOIT students who need help making ends meet. Alumni are eligible to use the food bank for up to one year after graduation.

To access the food bank, students must complete a quick intake form. All information is kept strictly. Students can use the food bank once every two weeks and can access it from North Oshawa and Downtown Oshawa campuses. Only non-perishable items are available Downtown.

Outreach Services offers a variety of supports to our students. No matter what a student is facing, if we can’t help, we’ll find someone who can.

Our trained staff provide private, confidential counseling to students. We have a comprehensive resource library on topics like the LGBTQ+ community, coming out, women in society, sexual assault survival, sexual health, trans issues, dating and healthy relationships, and more. We facilitate LGBTQ+, trans and sexual violence survivor peer support groups, and student-led committees like the Pride Social Advisory Committee, who organize fun, inclusive events for the LGBTQ+ campus community.

Outreach Services hosts insightful and educational workshops, led by staff or community professionals. We discuss topics such as time management, communication skills, finance and budgeting, and nutrition.

We organize and participate in events like One Billion Rising, World AIDS Day, Social Justice Week, Celebrate Yourself, Campus Pride, Trick or Eat, and more.
