We offer a health, dental and travel insurance plan to all full-time UOIT students provided by

New this year, we’re giving you the chance to choose a plan that’s specially designed to fit your needs. Select one of four plans, equal in value, each with different combinations of prescription, dental and vision coverage.

Students are automatically enrolled on the balanced plan, but can easily switch to one of our three enhanced plans. If you select an enhanced plan before October 30, it will take up to three weeks for the changes to take effect.



Full-time students at UOIT are automatically enrolled in the Health Plan as a part of their tuition. However, you can opt-out of the plan within the specified dates, but must meet set criteria (see FAQ below). Coverage runs from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018.

Students may opt-out of the dental and extended health portion of the plan if you’re already covered. Proof of coverage must be provided. Students cannot opt-out of prescription drug, travel insurance, and accident insurance. Student can also choose to add dependents to the health plan for an additional fee.

Students can opt-out or add dependents to the plan at by the deadline. Students may only opt-in or out during the month that they start full-time studies. No exceptions are made if the deadline is missed. May start students must opt-out in person at the Student Union Main Office and provide proof of existing coverage.

When you’re visiting the eye doctor, dentist or pharmacy, provide the following information:

Yes! Oral contraceptives, the patch, Nuva Ring and IUD’s are covered with no maximum per policy year.

UOIT students can access the Campus Health Centre, located at North Oshawa Campus.

For those without dental coverage, Durham College’s Dental Clinic has discounted services that are available to everyone. This can be useful for those without our dental coverage or family members that don’t have coverage. Find out more:
